MME Radio Online! PDF Print E-mail

MME Radio is Now Online! We're initially testing with up to 20 listenres at 64kbps, via Spacialnet, and we're looking for more Maine Artists with original tunes to put on the "air". The system is currently automated, playing from some gear at my home stuidio, and you can hear the Shoutcast/Winamp MP3 stream at these links:

PLS playlist file:

Raw MP3 for Winamp-style playlist entries:

We'll be watching the stats closely to see if/when we need to boost accessibility, and let us know what you think by posting here at the MME site via the MME Radio forum. As time permits, we'll be adding many more features and capabilities, so keep checking in.

Our current library consists of the artists who sent in CDs to the former Homegrown in Maine radio show on WJZF-FM - Standish, along with the artists on our MME site's Artists Jukebox. Remember, we can only play your originals that you give us permission to play - covers would require us to pay royalties and in order to stay non-profit and free, we don't have the cash for that! At least not yet!

We're always looking for new music, so send your original music to us at:

MME's Homegrown in Maine
276 Hopkins Rd
Plymouth ME 04969

Or contact us to find out how to email/upload your stuff. And don't forget, we want more than just your music - we want to know more about you and the band and the recording process, etc. Watch for artist interview appointments coming soon!

Always looking for volunteers to help organize, write, research all this stuff, too. Just holler if you're interested in making podcasts and doing interviews, reviews, etc.!

So by now you've probably heard about the new bill in Congress aimed at having radio stations pay for playing music. The idea is to pay the artists for the "performance" of the piece over the air. Yes, times have changed. Arguements on both sides have good merit. So what do you think? Pay for Play is ok, or will it kill stations and just make corporations more in control of our broadcasting industry? Your thoughts? Log in and comment below...

Ok, I'm getting itchy. I'm getting the urge to rearrange some cyber furniture. I'm starting to think of ways to change and evolve MME. And I have a couple choices, but I can't make up my mind. Maybe you can help?

I want to overhaul and update MME. I've been using the same coding system since I started MME back in 2005, and while it's still valid, there are newer sstems out there and finally there are some choices where before no code even existed. So, where do we go from here?

Well, as I see it, we have a couple choices. And I'll ask for your input in the form of a poll shortly. But let me explain what the choices are. First, I can leave the site pretty much as it is - a content system with add-ons for a community-style place for everyone. I can just update the system and some things will change a little, but mostly some type of calendar for gigs will be here, as well as forums, and a place for pictures, video, audio, etc. And oh yes, info about each of you as artist or fan or just a web site member. Kind of a Facebook-like thing with some special add-ons.

Or we can move toward an artist site system like the MME Jukebox and Jamroom sites, where artists can flesh out their own web presence, sell music, t-shirts, have players and jukeboxes, and be something like a MySpace where you pick your own skins or theme and manage the modules you want on "your" site. And of course still have room for fans and just web site members.

Or do you have something else in mind? I welcome your ideas and suggestions. Please give me some feedback as to where to take MME into the future!

Registration Fixed PDF Print E-mail

I guess one of my recent updates to the site broke the registration process. Thanks to Damien for telling me today. I traced it down and fixed it tonight. Looks like the update removed some necessary fields for the Google Maps part of the profile in the registration process. We should be all set now, so if you tried to register earlier and it failed, please try again.

Remember, the system will notify us AFTER you get your confirmation email AND you click the confirmation link in that, and then an admin will need to confirm your account and then you will be in!

Did I mention it's all free???
