So by now you've probably heard about the
new bill in Congress aimed at having radio stations pay for playing
music. The idea is to pay the artists for the "performance" of the
piece over the air. Yes, times have changed. Arguements on both
sides have good merit. So what do you think? Pay for Play is ok, or
will it kill stations and just make corporations more in control of
our broadcasting industry? Your thoughts? Log in and comment

Ok, I'm getting itchy. I'm getting the
urge to rearrange some cyber furniture. I'm starting to think of
ways to change and evolve MME. And I have a couple choices, but I
can't make up my mind. Maybe you can help?
I want to overhaul and update MME. I've been using the same coding
system since I started MME back in 2005, and while it's still
valid, there are newer sstems out there and finally there are some
choices where before no code even existed. So, where do we go from
here?
Well, as I see it, we have a couple choices. And I'll ask for your
input in the form of a poll shortly. But let me explain what the
choices are. First, I can leave the site pretty much as it is - a
content system with add-ons for a community-style place for
everyone. I can just update the system and some things will change
a little, but mostly some type of calendar for gigs will be here,
as well as forums, and a place for pictures, video, audio, etc. And
oh yes, info about each of you as artist or fan or just a web site
member. Kind of a Facebook-like thing with some special add-ons.
Or we can move toward an artist site system like the MME Jukebox
and Jamroom sites, where artists can flesh out their own web
presence, sell music, t-shirts, have players and jukeboxes, and be
something like a MySpace where you pick your own skins or theme and
manage the modules you want on "your" site. And of course still
have room for fans and just web site members.
Or do you have something else in mind? I welcome your ideas and
suggestions. Please give me some feedback as to where to take MME
into the future!
