Ok, so you ask, "There's a lot of stuff here! How can I narrow it down and find the info I'm looking for?"
Well, the easiest way it to use the Search function. Most areas on the site are indexed using Search functionality, so if you enter some keywords into the Search field, you should find it here if it exists somewhere on the site.
If you're a band looking for a new band mate, or a new band who's looking for your missing link, start out in the Opportunities section of the Forums. Most of our members will post there when they are looking for a bassist or a new drummer, etc., or perhaps they are available for gigs, fill-in, or want to start a band.
Another way to look for like-minded artists is to search the members' profiles. Of course, garbage in means garbage out, so make sure your profile is up-to-date and correct, and mentions things people are likely to search for. Most of our members have filled in a little about their music and styles or preferences in their profile. You can search profiles using the Member Search function on the User menu (that's visible once you've logged on). So, if you're looking for a bass player, type in "bass" (without the quotes) and click the magnifying glass icon or hit <enter>. If you're looking for a drummer, typ ein "drums drummer". You should see any and everyone who has the keyword of choice somewhere in their profile.
That's pretty much it for searching and finding! Enjoy!

Dead Season When Everything’s Lost 2008 Independent
May 20th, 2008 marked the two year long wait for Maine’s quintessential metal band, Dead Season, to release their next full length release. The wait has been highly anticipated and filled with highs and lows for the band. After listening to this release over 10 times before even sitting down to write this review, I must say Dead Season turned tragedy and success into one amazing new release.
Before getting into what Dead Season is known for, I would like to first mention something totally new to the band. Steve Church, the newest member of the band has added stand out bass guitar to the Dead Season arsenal. For everything that Dead Season has given to their fans over the past four years with the heavy hitting Down Again (2004), The Fight (2005), and Rise( 2006), there has never been a stand out bass guitar.

Saturday May 24, 2008 - Bridge Street Tavern: http://www.myspace.com/BridgeStTavern As a child with very few friends, I learned to develop a vivid imagination. I remember spending hours as a small boy in the living room with my father watching hours of old westerns. I think my father had a secret crush on Dale Evans, for he watched her movies with Roy Rogers over and over again. Saturday afternoons my father would settle into his lazy-boy recliner with a cold beer, bag of Humpty Dumpty potato chips, and a Roy Rogers classic on VHS. I would run to my room, grab my cowboy hat, practice lasso, and my Daisy air rifle, and hop on top of my rocking horse and drift off into the Wild West and imagine I was there, chocking back dust, sleeping under the stars, and calling my wooden horse, Trigger. |

Well, I've been doing a lot of work to find the real reason the site is (was) so slow. Everything I researched kept pointing to the back-end database, where most of the site data is stored. Tonight I moved the entire database to another server, and upgraded it along the way. I also cleaned off some logs, so that should help as well.
I think you'll find that the site is a bit faster now, but I'm still not completely happy with it, so I'll continue my investigation. In the meantime, if you do see anything that doesn't work the way it used to, or how you figure it should, or if you get a lot of timeouts or even see errors from time to time, please drop me a note via the Contact Us page so I can look into it. I've got a few more tricks up my sleeve to get things moving better.
One note, the Forums component we're using now (Fireboard) *IS* slow. The code is not optimized yet. Unfortunately, its about the only integrated forum component for this system that I can use at the moment. I'm hoping the guys supporting it will work to optimize it and make it that much faster.
Enjoy!!!
