The MME site is running awfully slow for me lately, you, too? I'm doing some investigation and also cleaning up a bit to make it faster.
In addition, I've upgraded a few subsystems today, so I just wanted to give you a heads-up and ask if you see something not working properly, drop me a note through the Contact Us page or a comment here.
I also added few of the Maine music stores that I know about to the Directory. If you have one that isn't in there, please add it or drop me a note with details so I can add it for all of us.
Thanks!

Lately, over the past two years, I have noticed a growing trend that has started pissing me off. The metal sign. Our beloved symbol of metal, the old \m/ that people who were really into metal used to use to represent our love for the hardest music out there. We waved the "horns" at shows like a good Ozzy concert or when we watched Metallica take the stage. It was a symbol of rebellion and a way for metal heads to communicate their appreciation for one another.

I'd like to put together a comprehensive
list of music stores and repair shops around the state of Maine and
even New England. I'm thinking we can put this info into the
Directory on this site so we have quick and easy lookups, maps,
etc. I know most of you probably have a favorite and know of
several others around your areas. You know, the places you go to
check out gear and drool over the latest toys. Well, let's put
together a list. I'm going to start with those I personally know
about. You can send me the info (name, address, phone, etc.), or
put it into the Directory yourself - just please check to see if it
is already there so we don't have duplicate entries. I think I'll
see if I can set up a comment or review/opinions section so we can
write about our experiences, good or bad.
I know we can get great deals at the big online retailers, but if
you go to the local store and play with their gear and spend their
time asking questions and such, PLEASE BUY FROM THEM! Help them
stay in business! After all, you have to support them if you want
them to support you!
Thanks for your input!

Our very own redbeard, a.k.a. Gordon
Cunningham, the guy behind MME, has been tapped to become the new
host of WJZF's local Miane music show, "Homegrown in Maine", which
will be heard weekly in new timeslots in the coming weeks. Gordon
will continue the show's theme of playing Maine musicians' tunes
in good taste, both originals and covers, as well as hopefully have
musicians in to do some "live" work.

MME needs Reviewers! MME is seeking people
interested in doing critical reviews of local band and artist
performances in your area. If you frequent clubs and venues to see
various bands, and don't mind writing up your thoughts and
feelings about what you see and hear for public consumption, MME
wants you! Don't worry about spelling and grammar - we can fix it
up before publishing!
We're looking for people in all areas of the State of Maine where
clubs and venues exist. Contact redbeard through the Contact Us page and let us know you're
interested.
